Stevan Moffat, the creator of the series, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Sherlock’ has expressed his desire to make a crossover episode of hit BBC television series.

The fans of the two hit series have long been waiting to see ‘Doctor’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ to cross each other’s path but due to Moffat’s lack of interest for the crossover, there were slim chances of it. The show’s executive producer and writer openly had spoken of his mind that ‘WhoLock’ would never happen. But now it seems that executive producer and showrunner of the BBC series has eaten his own words.

Recent reports say Moffat has shown an interest to bring these two completely different worlds together. Creator Moffat expressed his desire during a press preview for the upcoming "LEGO Dimensions" video game, where the first bit of Doctor Who’s footage from the upcoming September release was shown.

Moffat said that he is very much interested to collide the two worlds of Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. However, the creator who brought the famous books of Doctor Who and detective Sherlock and Dr. Watson to the television screens is yet to write the crossover story. The collaboration between these two seems possible but is yet to come under process.

In a recent Interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moffat insisted that he is trying to convince his Sherlock staff that a WhoLock crossover would please viewers.

Moffat said, “I got persuaded by Mark [Gatiss], Benedict [Cumberbatch], [executive producer Sue Vertue] and Martin [Freeman] saying, ‘Look, it will never be as good as they think it’s going to be'”. He went on to comment that notwithstanding Gatiss’, Cumberbatch’s, Vertue’s and Freeman’s solicitude about the possible crossover. Steven himself would be gratified with “banging it out” and making it as good as it could be, backing it up by declaring that he was in the camp of giving the fans everything they wanted.

Moffat is really into bringing these two characters together for his fans and followers. But he is yet to finalize as his agent, wife darling, Sue Vertue and Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are not in favor of the crossover.

The writer added: "I got persuaded by Mark, Benedict, [executive producer Sue Vertue] and Martin saying, 'Look, it will never be as good as they think it's going to be', and then I say, 'Yes, but we'll just bang it out and make it as good'.

"'Yeah, but you can't give everybody everything they want all the time'. I'm in the camp of giving them everything they want. But I think they're sane and right and I'm just a tart.”

If the project comes into life then the fans will surely be happy but there are some Sherlock fans think if the super natural world of Doctor Who is brought to the realistic world of Sherlock’s then the existence of Doctor Who in Sherlock‘s world would undermine the latter show’s integrity.

Interestingly, the writer-producer of hugely-hit series has no interest in social media, particularly Twitter.

Moffat who deleted his Twitter account back in 2012 said, “I think Twitter is a useful tool for promoting a show, but I think it is the worst possible form of audience research."

Moffat has repeatedly asserted he has no intention of tweeting again after quitting the social media.

On the personal front, the writer-producer Moffat has been happily married to Sue Vertue since 1999 and together, they have two children.
