Former American football Linebacker Lavar Arrington has announced he will name his soon-to-be born daughter after his alma mater. Arrington has three kids named LaVar, Laila and Marlee and the former athlete and his wife Trishia are expecting their fourth child. Well, Arrington has decided to name his fourth child- a baby girl- Penn after the Penn state.

Arrington, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania played at the Penn State under coach Joe Paterno from 1997 to 1999 and has chosen the name paying homage to the place he fondly calls ‘home’. The former All-American revealed the ‘name’ of his soon-to-be-born daughter via Instagram.

Arrington, had played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven long seasons is the sensational name in American football.  Arrington spent his lifelong in the height of fame as a football maestro and a legendary player. During his years-long career, he played in two football teams, Washington Redskins and New York Giants.

The 6 feet 3 inches tall former athlete spent 5 years in Washington Redskins from 2000 to 2005 but he left the club as his agent was accused of neglecting and forging 6.5 million dollar worth of bonuses from his contract and as he suffered knee injury and repeated conflict with the coaches Joe Gibbs and Gregg Williams. After leaving the club he signed $49 million contract with the New York Giants for seven years. That’s $3.7 millon salary worth a year.

The 36 year old athlete was named after the American actor LeVar Burton, following the actor’s portrayal of Kunta Kinte in the 1977 TV miniseries Roots.

His father Michael is a retired military officer and his mother Carolyn is a school teacher in Pittsburgh. He has two siblings one older brother, Michael, named after his father who is a former basketball player at Slippery Rock University and his young brother’s name is Eric.

After his formal retirement from the football, Arrington tried his luck in restaurant business in 2008 but it closed down as one man died and six were injured in gunfire just outside his restaurant in 2009. After the ‘unfortunate’ incident, Arrington shifted his focus to television. He hosts his own weekly sports show titled "Sports Week with Lavar Arrington" on local Washington television station DC50. The former All-American linebacker also hosted a weekday afternoon radio talk show entitled "The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes" with DJ Chad Dukes.

Arrington gained much fame and popularity in his life, his millions of followers on twitter and instagram simply do speak of it as well.

The former three-time All-pro is might have the best sports career stats of all time but he does have his share of bad lucks and misfortune in his life. In 2007, he got into a very nasty bike accident in suburban Maryland. Arrington was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital. He suffered broken right forearm, broken lower vertebrae, and deep cuts to his leg. After the recovery, he was summoned by the court with a charge of failure to control speed to avoid a collision and operating a vehicle without a class license, well his ‘driving’ act indeed ended him up in a huge trouble.
