Canadian filmmaker Ivan Reitman and his wife Genevieve Robert, who have been married for over 30 years, are known to be very supportive of their son and daughters.
Ivan Reitman’s son Jason Reitman is a well-known award winning film director who has been appraised for his movies as Juno, Thank You for Smoking and Up in the Air.
In an interview with Canadian Magazine, his son Jason said that he literally grew up on the sets of many of his father’s productions. He also recalled that he had visited the set of the influential college comedy Animal House, produced by his father, Ivan Reitman when he was just 11 days old.
Jason added saying that his parents are his inspiration for whatever he has done in the film industry. He said he followed his Dad’s words to pursue a path that would eventually take him to global success.
Director Jason has won a Grammy award and received four Academy Award nominations for the Best Director in 2010.
Not only has his parents supported him in his professional career, they have also supported him in his personal life as well.
When their son was only 16 studying in high school, he moved in with a woman 10 years older than him. That would have been a very shocking moment for Ivan and his wife. However, they supported their son’s decision and did not keep restrictions on his life.
Even after their son separated from his girlfriend, Ivan and Genevieve were always there backing him in his every decision in life.
The couple is supporting parents to not only their director son Jason but also to their actress and nurse daughters Catherine Reitman and Caroline Reitman.
Actress and film critic Catherine Reitman is best remembered as the creator of the YouTube movie review show Breakin’ It Down With Catherine Reitman. She is said to be creating a new comedy series Workin’ Moms and Starting Over which is heading for CBC Television in fall 2016.
Catherine said her famous dad always stressed the importance of finding her own voice.
“I was lucky enough to be raised not only but a really talented man but a really good father,” Catherine added.
Ivan younger daughter, Caroline has appeared in few movies as Father’s Day and Life and Times but she pursued her dream to become a nurse.
“I feel very lucky to be able to have my dad and to have him as a guide as I’ve had my whole life,” Caroline quotes at the launch of her sister’s new show.
In every stage of life, Ivan and his wife Genevieve have supported their daughters. Be it their passion for acting or nursing!
Canadian film producer, Reitman who lives with his family in their house at Toronto has an estimated net worth of $85 million.
