Laurence Paul Shanet is a highly successful commercial and film director who has directed music videos, internet content, stage plays, and commercials like Pepsi, Volkswagen, and Starburst. His extraordinary work has won him accolades like the 2004 Young Director Award at the Cannes Lions International Festival and is still a part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Son of composer Howard Shanet, Laurence originally worked under the name Kranky along with his directing partner David M. Rosenthal up to their series of spots for Master Cabbie. The duo split in 2003 but Laurence Shanet still uses “Kranky” as his working moniker and production name. He is credited as “Laurence Shanet” or “Larry Shanet”.
